NASA lifts off cargo spacecraft named after Kalpana Chawla, carries 8000 pound supplies

Washinton: A Northrop Grumman Cygnus resupply spacecraft, which has been named after late India-born astronaut Kalpana Chawla, is on its way to the International Space Station with nearly 8,000 pounds of scientific investigations, technology demonstrations, commercial products, and other cargo after launching at 9:16 p.m. EDT Friday from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Virginia.
