Following a concerned citizen’s report about Alexandrine parakeets being kept in a small dingy cage at a man’s residence, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India said it worked with North 24 Parganas forest officials to rescue the birds and register a preliminary offence report (POR) against the alleged illegal custodian.
PETA calls on National Green Tribunal to ban 'manja' nationwide

New Delhi, Aug 10 (IBNS): People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India filed a petition yesterday afternoon, just before Independence Day, urging the National Green Tribunal to ban all forms of the sharp kite-flying strings called manja nationwide. As PETA India warns, manja – which is often coated with glass, metal, or other sharp objects – poses a lethal threat to humans and animals alike.
