Greenpeace India urges power sector to think beyond coal

New Delhi, Sept 6 (IBNS): As the who's who of the coal and power ministry attended a conference themed 'Indian Coal: Sustaining the Momentum' in the capital on Tuesday, Greenpeace India hosted a parallel press conference at the same venue, questioning the wisdom behind sustaining an obsolete polluting industry that plays such a large role in worsening global climate change.

UN reports increase in nations supporting renewable energy

New York, Jun 4 (IBNS): The number of developing countries with policies in place to support renewable energy has increased six-fold in just eight years, resulting in one-fifth of the world's power production now coming from renewable sources, according to a United Nations-backed report produced ahead of the UN Sustainable Energy for All Forum.
