Guwahati/IBNS: To help conservation of Assam’s Greater Adjutant Stork commonly known as Hargilla, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday asked the Deputy Commissioner Kamrup to use his administrative machinery along with forest department to undertake tree census and identify trees with specific numbers in Dadariya, Pachariya and Singimari area.

Guwahati, June 5 (IBNS): In a move to play the role of ‘force-multiplier’ of connecting people to nature, and encourage the younger generation to plant more saplings, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday announced that the state government would celebrate World Environment Day at every panchayat in the state from next year. Speaking at a programme organised centrally to celebrate the World Environment Day at Dibrugarh University in Dibrugarh, the Assam CM said that the government would also earmark areas in each village for plantation of saplings to give the people of the area an opportunity to plant saplings on special day of the family and to shape their future in sync with the nature.
