India celebrates role of NGOs in combating the COVID-19 pandemic

NewDelhi:In the very first week India enteredCOVID lockdown in March 2020, PM Narendra Modi called on the NGOs to help the government during the lockdown by providing basic necessities to theunderprivileged, supplying medical and protective gear, and assisting withawareness campaigns on social distancing.

New Delhi/IBNS: Lakshyam, a non-government organization (NGO) working for destitute and suppressed communities, set up a helpline number after the countrywide pandemic-related lockdown was implemented, so that victims of domestic violence could seek immediate help at times of distress.
