Kolkata: Spices and Sauces organises Ilish Utsav
Kolkata/IBNS: Bengalis' popular fish Hilsa was on the plate of all guests at an Ilish Utsav (Hilsa festival) organised by Indian and Continental food suppliers Spice and Sauces at PC Chandra Gardens in Kolkata Sunday afternoon.
At Bhoomi, it is time for chronicling the unique story of Hilsa and wine!
How prettily it sits beneath the shade of the large Banyan tree. It is a picture- perfect sight to behold… a scene straight out of rural Bengal… a two-storied mud hut with thatched roof nestling amidst lush greenery.
A Bengali's true love Hilsa wrapped with tempered karelas and paired with a fruity Jacob's Creek white wine. Risotto with kasha mangsha (Bengal's iconic low-heat cooked mutton) with the same Australian brand's red wine or your favourite mishti bhapa doi with sparkling wine. Sounds yummy, offbeat and lip-smacking? Well, that was the magical fusion forged by chef Sharad Dewan at The Park Kolkata this puja.
Kolkata: It’s raining Hilsa at The Gateway Hotel
Kolkata, July 26 (IBNS): The arrival of monsoon starts tickling the Bengali taste buds with tantalising thoughts of devouring Ilish during the rains. Ilish or Hilsa, the national fish of Bangladesh, is extremely popular in India, especially in the states of West Bengal, Orissa, Tripura and Assam.
