The Supreme Court on Tuesday resumed hearing on the case pertaining to the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The hearing is taking place after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the axing of Kolkata Commissioner of Police Vineet Goyal, Kolkata Police DC North Abhishek Gupta and two health officials bowing down to the demands of the junior doctors, who are on ceasework demanding justice for the rape-murder victim.

The Supreme Court resumed hearing on the case related to the brutal rape and murder of the female doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Monday. The body of the doctor was recovered from the hospital on August 9, triggering massive protests across West Bengal with doctors and civilians taking out rallies and demonstrating regularly in Kolkata to demand justice for the victim.

Students under the banner 'Chhatra Samaj' planned to reach the West Bengal secretariat Nabanna in a rally on Tuesday afternoon protesting against the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The protesters demanded Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's resignation over the incident that has brought the state administration under scanner.
