Supreme Court resumes hearing on RG Kar rape-murder case: All Updates

The Supreme Court resumed hearing on the case related to the brutal rape and murder of the female doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Monday. The body of the doctor was recovered from the hospital on August 9, triggering massive protests across West Bengal with doctors and civilians taking out rallies and demonstrating regularly in Kolkata to demand justice for the victim.

In a rare show of citizens' solidarity, Kolkata is observing its second-night vigil by turning off lights and coming out on streets with candles in their hands in demand of justice for the 31-year-old junior doctor who was brutally raped and murdered at RG Kar Hospital even though there is a strong disappointment among protesters over the cancellation of the Supreme Court hearing on September 5.

The Supreme Court on Thursday resumed hearing on the case pertaining to the 31-year-old lady junior doctor's rape and murder at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. On Tuesday, the top court had lashed out at the West Bengal government and administration over the administration's lapses including delay in filing of an FIR. The top court had ordered the posting of CISF at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. 

Supreme Court's Ayodhya verdict: All updates

The Supreme Court is delivering its judgement on the Ayodhya case which pertains to whether Ram Temple can be built in the disputed land of Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya. The verdict will be delivered a five-member Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi. The other judges are Justice SA Bobde, Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice Abdul Nazeer. Security has been beefed up across the nation as the Supreme Court will any moment deliver its verdict on the Ram Janma Bhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute in Ayodhya.
