Assam flood situation worsens, over 20 lakh people affected, death toll at 21

Guwahati, July 28 (IBNS): Assam flood situation is more worsened after flood waters submerged more areas in the state with over 20 lakh people of 22 districts being affected and 21 people dying in the fresh crisis in the state.

New Delhi, Aug 23 (IBNS) Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Jitendra Singh said that six teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have already been deployed for rescue work in the flood affected areas of Tinsukia, Lakhmipur, Kokrajhar and Kamrup and one Battalion of NDRF is stationed in the capital city of Guwahati to move into action as and when required without wasting any time.
