WB CM Mamata Banerjee starts sit-in demonstration in front of CBI office, protesting arrest

Kolkata/UNI: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Monday started a sit-in demonstration in front of CBI office at Nizam Palace here, protesting against the arrest of two of her cabinet colleagues Subrata Mukherjee, Firhad Hakim and MLA Madan Mitra along with ex-Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee.

Kolkata/IBNS: In a morning swoop, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested three top Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders, including Kolkata Municipal Corporation administrator Firhad Hakim, along with a former Mayor, in connection with the 2016 Narada expose, triggering a political firestorm in West Bengal amid a raging pandemic and in the aftermath of a violent staggered state election in which the ruling TMC decimated its new political challenger BJP.

Kolkata/IBNS: After a senior official of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday, the office of the central probe agency at Nizam Palace in south Kolkata's AJC Bose Road area has been temporarily sealed for disinfection and sanitization processes, officials said.
