Red alert withdrawn for Chennai after heavy rainfall, flight ops resume

Chennai/IBNS: The red alert for heavy rainfall, which was issued for eight districts of Tamil Nadu, was withdrawn on Thursday evening after the depression that triggered the alarm, and led to widespread flooding in Chennai and other parts of state weakened.

Thiruvanthapuram, Aug 20 (IBNS) : The Indian Meteorological Department has withdrawn red alert from all the districts of Kerala  following let up in rainfall even though the situation in the flood-ravaged state remained grim with widespread destruction and lakhs of people being homeless.
