Gyanvapi issue: Supreme Court defers carbon-dating, scientific examination of 'Shivling'

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday put on hold the Allahabad HC order for carbon-dating and scientific examination of 'Shivling', which was found during a court-ordered survey inside the wuzu khana (a place where ablutions are performed before namaz) of Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, last year.

Varanasi/UNI: A district court in Varanasi Friday rejected an application moved by the plaintiff for carbon dating or other scientific investigation of a Shivling-like structure found inside the Gyanvapi Mosque stating that in case any harm is caused it will be in violation of the Supreme Court decree to preserve the structure.
