Srinagar/IBNS: Two days before the first phase of elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the banned Jamaat-e-Islami and Engineer Rashid's Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) have struck a "strategic" alliance, media reports said.

New Delhi/IBNS: The Election Commission of India has issued notice to newly-elected Lok Sabha MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid, over the expenditure in the parliamentary elections, media reports said.
Sheikh Abdul Rashid, popularly known as ‘Engineer Rashid’, emerged as a controversial player in the Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir, after the jailed terror accused defeated former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah by a massive margin in the Baramulla seat.
