Attack on Pakistan journalist earns concern of human rights groups

A recent series of attacks and growing pressure on journalists who criticize the Pakistan government is a cause for serious concern, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and the International Commission of Jurists have said. Those suspected of criminal responsibility should be promptly and fairly prosecuted, they said.

Islamabad: A prominent Pakistani journalist was recently attacked at his residence by unknown men and then taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, marking just another instance of attack on press freedom in the country, media reports said.
