UN cites ‘worrying reversal’ in efforts to tackle illicit drugs as Afghan opium production soars

New York, Oct 25 (Just Earth News): Opium production in Afghanistan rose by 43 per cent to 4,800 metric tons in 2016 from 2015, according to the latest figures released on Monday by the Afghan Ministry of Counter Narcotics and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
