Security Council adopts first-ever resolution on mine action

New York, July 1(Just Earth News): The United Nations Security Council on Friday adopted its first-ever resolution on mine action, noting the serious and lasting threat posed by landmines, explosive remnants of war and improvised explosive devices, while also recognizing the positive contribution of mine action to sustaining peace and stability.

New York, Feb 9 (Just Earth News): The United Nations has launched a $511 million international appeal for humanitarian mine action in conflict and post-conflict settings for 2017, a 50 per cent increase from last year's $347 million consolidated appeal.
