New York, Oct 13 (Just Earth News): The General Assembly on Thursdayis expected to act on the recommendation of the Security Council regarding the appointment of the next Secretary-General of the United Nations; last week, the Council forwarded to the 193-member body its nomination, António Guterres, former Prime Minister of Portugal, to be the next UN chief.

New York, June 8 (Just Earth News):Two more candidates for the position of the next United Nations Secretary-General will be heard on Tuesday, answering questions on how they would promote sustainable development, improve efforts to create peace, protect human rights, and deal with huge humanitarian catastrophes should they be selected to lead the 193-member Organization.
