Mumbai/ Kolkata/IBNS: To offer greater value and travel opportunities in the Indian market, Scoot, the low-cost arm of the Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group, has commenced operations on new Visakhapatnam-Singapore and Coimbatore-Singapore routes. Scoot offers five-times weekly return flights from Visakhapatnam and daily return flights from Coimbatore.
The new routes bring the number of Indian cities served by the airline to seven, including Amritsar, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Tiruchirappalli and Trivandrum. Scoot launched in Trivandrum in May 2019.
The new routes are operated by Scoot’s fleet of narrow-body Airbus A320-family aircraft, and the routes were transferred from sister airline, SilkAir, with increased frequencies on Scoot. This aims to enhance the connectivity of Visakhapatnam and Coimbatore with Singapore and the world, and allows customers the flexibility of more convenient options for international travel at for-value fares.
Customers from India can now book their travel seamlessly from both cities to Singapore, and connect to 60 other destinations across Scoot’s network, including cities in Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and more. They can also connect onwards to other destinations on the Singapore Airlines and SilkAir network. Scoot customers with connecting flights within a single booking with Singapore Airlines and/or SilkAir will not be required to pass through immigration in Singapore and their checked baggage will also be delivered to their final destination.
Calvin Chan, Chief Commercial Officer, Scoot, said, “It has been an exciting year for Scoot in India. Having launched in Trivandrum earlier in May, we are pleased to round off this year by bringing our offerings to customers in two new cities – Visakhapatnam and Coimbatore. At Scoot, we work very hard to drive our vision of customer-centricity, and we are deeply focused on providing our customers greater value and travel opportunities, and the flexibility to pay only for what they need with add-ons customised to their needs. The two route launches strengthen our India network, and allow us to offer an escape from the ordinary to even more Indian travellers, at attractive prices.”
From all its seven India points, Scoot has launched a promotional sale to over 30 destinations on its network, with one-way tax-inclusive FLY fares starting from as low as INR 4,900, and can be booked from FlyScoot.com and the Scoot mobile app.
In addition to attractive fares, Scoot’s wide range of ancillary products and services allow travellers to tailor how they wish to travel. Customers can purchase seats with additional legroom, meals, and more baggage allowance depending on their budget. Those looking for the VIP treatment can choose Scoot-in-Style, Scoot’s package of premium privileges including priority check-in and boarding and lounge access at Singapore Changi Airport.
Scoot’s continuous focus on driving initiatives to enhance the customer experience and encouraging more people to venture beyond the familiar, has enabled it to win the “Best Low-Cost Carrier” award, at the TTG Travel Awards 2019 as well as at the Travel Weekly Asia 2019 Readers’ Choice Awards, held in September and October 2019 respectively.
It recently shifted operations to the newly refurbished Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1, which is conveniently located near award-winning Jewel Changi Airport mall. As part of their improved customer offerings, Scoot has waived payment processing fees globally for customers booking their flights through Scoot’s direct channels such as its website and mobile app.
