New 3AC Economy coach base fare 8% cheaper than regular AC three-tier coaches
New Delhi/UNI: The Indian Railways has fixed base fare of its new variant of AC three-tier Economy coach at 2.4 times of base fare of the sleeper class (SL).
The fare for new 3AC Economy coaches seems to be lower than the regular 3AC coaches. For instance, the Indian Railways website showed AC three-tier coach base fare for a one-way trip from Delhi to Gorakhpur (792 kilometres) by Vaishali Express at Rs 1034 which is 2.61 times the base fare of Sleeper class (Rs 395).
Based on the above fare structure, the base fare of the new 3AC Economy coach is 8% lower than the existing 3AC coaches.
Accordingly, the base fare for distance up to 300 kilometres, the lowest slab, would be Rs 440. For the highest slab (4951-500kms), the base fare has been fixed at Rs 3,065.
Other charges like reservation fee, superfast surcharge, GST etc as applicable for 3AC classes would be levied separately.
