Yatri Sathi app introduces digital ticket booking for WBTC buses in Kolkata
Kolkata/IBNS: In a significant move to modernise public transport, the Transport Department of West Bengal, in collaboration with the Information Technology and Electronics (IT&E) Department, has launched digital bus ticket booking through the ‘Yatri Sathi App’.
The digital ticketing system enables users to book bus tickets by selecting their preferred route or destination, eliminating the need for cash transactions.
This innovation reduces bus crowding and simplifies payments, fostering digital adoption and marking a key step in the city's transition to smart mobility.
Highlighting the significance of the new service, West Bengal transport minister Snehasis Chakraborty said, "The launch of digital ticketing through Yatri Sathi is a game-changer for public transport in Kolkata, underscoring our commitment to improving accessibility and simplifying travel."
"Expanding this service will make commuting easier, safer, and more efficient for millions of passengers," Mohan added.
With the addition of bus ticketing, Yatri Sathi extends its convenience to public transport, further enhancing the commuting experience for Kolkata’s residents.
Looking ahead, Yatri Sathi plans to integrate features like real-time bus tracking, journey planning, and multi-modal transport solutions, allowing commuters to better plan their trips while improving first- and last-mile connectivity.
