Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation strengthens ties with Wakayama Prefecture Government, Japan

The delegation led by Jaykumar Jitendrasinh Rawal, included K.H Govinda Raj, IAS, Managing Director of MTDC; Satish Soni, Joint Managing Director of MTDC; Swati Kale, General Manager of MTDC and  Chandrashekhar Jaiswal, Deputy General Manager of MTDC.

Commenting on this occasion, Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, Jaykumar Jitendrasinh Rawal stated, “Our Marketing strategy for this year is Visit Maharashtra Year 2017 as declared by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri. Devendra Fadnavis. As a step to achieve the same, we are delighted that in the first month of January itself we could extend our goodwill to Wakayama Prefecture as a part of our marketing and goodwill strategy. The delegation discussed matters pertaining to renewal of the MoU between the government of Maharashtra (GoM) and Wakayama Prefectural Government (WPG) in 2018.”

Jaykumar Jitendrasinh Rawal extended official invitation to ambassador Yoshinobu Nisaka to visit Maharashtra for signing the renewal MoU between them.

Both, Governor Nisaka and Minister Rawal expressed utmost satisfaction on the bilateral engagements within the framework of the MoU which was signed in 2013.

Maharashtra's gateway to Japan is definitely Wakayama and the bilateral ties can be further extended with the help of Wakayama to multilateral ties with other prefectures of Japan stated governor Nisaka.

Minister Rawal reciprocated by requesting the Governor to use Mumbai as the commercial entry hub for Japanese industries as well as a holiday gateway to India at large and Maharashtra in specific. The tourism minister stated that Wakayama prefecture should play the role of catalyst in the mutual development of both the states.

"As Wakayama is close friend of Maharashtra, we should extend our bond to other areas such as technology transfer, IT, industry, and town planning apart from tourism. Governor Nisaka mentioned that Wakayama and Maharashtra can work together on cold chain between Mumbai and Delhi as well as food processing technology. Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor is also an opportunity to work together he mentioned. The minister was very keen on taking the MoU to the next level where exchanges and technology share can be attained. On the agenda were, stationing of a tourism officer in the Wakayama area to promote Maharashtra among other aspects," he said.
