Jammu and Kashmir: NGO Wath Haawuk conducts trek to Tulain Lake
Srinagar: A trek to Tulian Lake in Pahalgam was organized by Wath Haawuk on Sept 20.
The hike began from Pahalgam market at 9 am sharp in which19 trekkers,15 boys and 4 girls, took part.
This trek was a challenge for the team which was led by Muzamil Hussain Mir, International Snowshoe Bronze Medalist, and Amir Badminton coach.
With help of team leader, they were able to overcome the difficult climb up and reached Tulian Lake by 2 pm. Out of the 4 girls in the team, 3 managed to complete the trek.
This included Tamajud and Siblings Batool and Tammana, the latter pair did a commendable job considering this was their first such trek.
Unfazed by the daunting task, both the sisters showed tremendous resolve and grit to finish the trek. Tammana even managed to beat some of the trekkers in the team on her trail.
On their way back however, Tammana was injured as both her legs started paining, Muzamil Hussain Mir and Manoj rescued her and finished the journey downwards. By 7:30 in the evening the group reached Pahalgam market.
Another impressive duo during the trip was Rakib and Tahseen who also made their trekking "debut" and impressed everyone by their fitness and strength, seeing how hard this slogan was. Both of them said that they are already looking forward to another such trek with Wath Haawuk.
Along with these two was another trekker Faisal who did the climb. Adil Farooq was on the tail of the team and kept encouraging and motivating others to complete the trek.
Taha Rasool a seasoned trekker said this trek was a difficult one as compared to others he has done in the past.
At the conclusion of the journey when everyone reached Pahalgam market, Muzamil Hussain Mir, who heads the sports wing of Wath Haawuk, appreciated the efforts of all those involved and said all of them served as inspiration to others while also reminding them about importance of such treks and what is required to carry them out.
He assured the participants of more such adventures in the coming time.
