| | May 28, 2016, at 07:39 pm
Dehra Dun, May 28 (IBNS) Valley of Flowers, the national park located in Uttarakhand and known for its endemic alpine flora, will remain open to travellers from June 5 to Oct 30, 2016, according to media reports.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site is almost 300km from Dehra Dun.

In 2015, the government had opened up a 15km trek route -- from Kunthkhal to Hanumn Chatti -- mainly as an alternative route for rescue operations during emergencies. But seasoned trekkers can also visit this trek route with permission from the local forest department when they are visiting the Valley of Flowers..

In 2016, the forest department is also opening up a few more trek routes near the national park, local media reported.

One such trek route is the 21km trek route from Lata village to Diburgheta and another one  is the Chenab Valley, also known for its seasonal floral abundance.
