Flood rescue training given to Kashmir youths in Srinagar

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), May 02 (ANI): As a part of its disaster management plan, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) conducted rescue exercise in Dal Lake to help the commoners during flood situations. They were trained in swimming and boat riding. 37 trainees both boys and girls were imparted basic training in flood rescue operations. The State of Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed many natural disasters especially in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Owing to its peculiar topography, rugged terrain, extreme weather conditions and underdeveloped economy, the State has suffered a lot on account of natural disasters. Flood in 2014 was one of the biggest natural calamities in which hundreds lost their lives and properties.
