Kathmandu, April 29 (ANI): Indian Air Force carried out massive relief operations in Nepal for the fifth day on Wednesday (April 29), after a 7.9 magnitude earthquake rattled the Himalayan nation last week. India has promised to extend comprehensive support to quake-hit Nepal under the name of Operation Maitri (Amity). Survivors were airlifted from troubled areas to a safe zone where they were provided medical treatment. The number of people killed in Saturday's (April 25) 7.9 magnitude earthquake rose to 5,006, an interior ministry official said. Meanwhile, local Nepalese television broadcast footage showing the extent of the damage and destruction in villages and towns in the quake-hit nation. It showed collapsed buildings, cracked roads and vehicles filled with people driving down the road.
