Women activists react as govt says marital rape not offence as marriage is sacrosanct in India

New Delhi/ Mumbai, April 30 (ANI): Women activists on Thursday react as government said that marital rape is not an offence as marriage is sacrosanct in India. AIDWA General Secretary Jagmati Sangwan said that rape is a crime and when done by husband, it is an aggravated form of the crime. DCW Chairperson Barkha Shukla said that women should have right to do what they want to and there should be a feeling of security in them. Meanwhile, Social Activist Abha Singh there should be a proper debate on the law as evidences in marital rape cases are hard to establish.
