Bandipora, Dec 26 (ANI): A militant was shot dead in Jammu and Kashmir during a joint operation by the police and the army official. The militant, identified as Omais Ahmad Sheikh, was a resident of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said. Police and army remained vigilant following a tip off about the presence of militants in the area. The militant’s body has been handed over to his family. Militant violence remains a problem in Kashmir although levels of violence are down from the levels of the 1990s when an armed revolt against Indian rule erupted.
