Nine killed, 17 injured in road accident in Amritsar

Amritsar, Dec 31 (ANI): Nine people were killed and at least 17 others were injured in a rear-end collision between a private bus and a vehicle in Amritsar city. The speeding bus hit the motorised cart, thus overturning it. Nine people including women and children died on the spot while the injured were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Sub-inspector, Subegh Singh, said that the deceased included labourers who were on their way home after working in the fields. Singh added that a case has been registered and investigation is on in the matter. The bus driver fled the spot soon after the accident. Angry kin of the victims and local residents set the bus on fire after evacuating the passengers. Those killed in the accident are yet to be identified by the police.
