Assam, Sep 26 (ANI): The death toll due to floods in Assam has now gone up to 36 with the recovery of four more bodies on Thursday. The floods in Assam have affected close to 10 lakh people in 13 districts and rendered a majority of people homeless. Two people died in Krishnai and Kukurkata areas of Goalpara district, which has been the worst hit by the floods, while one person was found dead in Tinsukia district and Guwahati. Heavy rains in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh earlier this week led to the flood like situation. The government has set up 162 relief camps and shelters where 1.5 lakh people have taken shelter. The state government had yesterday announced a payment of Rs 3.5 lakhs to the kin of those who died in the flood.
