Cairo, Apr 9 (IBNS): Blasts rocked two churches in Egypt, killing at least 21 people, media reports said.

The first blast targeted St George's Coptic church in the city of Tanta and killed at least 21 people.

Several people have been reportedly injured in the explosion.

The incident happened during Palm Sunday celebration.

The blasts appear to have been timed for maximum impact, as people gathered to mark Palm Sunday, BBC reported.

According to media reports,a second blast has been reported from northern Egypt.

It also reportedly occurred close to a church.

Egypt MFA Spokesman tweeted: "Terrorism hits Egypt again, this time on Palm Sunday. Another obnoxious but failed attempt against all Egyptians #united_on_PalmSunday."
