Trump, Trudeau mourn Manchester suicide attack, others join in

Washington/Ottawa, May 23 (IBNS): Joining the other world leaders in condemning the Manchester suicide attack which claimed 22 lives and injured 59 others, US President Donald Trump has termed the attackers as 'losers'.

The attack took place after the conclusion of American singer Ariana Grande's pop concert at the Manchester Arena on Monday night.

Trump, who's visiting the Middle-East, was quoted by the media as saying, "I won't call them monsters because they would like that term. I will call them losers.

A tweet from the official handle of White House read, "We stand in absolute solidarity with the people of the United Kingdom."

Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has called it a shocking incident.

"Canadians are shocked by the news of the horrific attack in Manchester tonight. Please keep the victims & their families in your thoughts," Trudeau's tweet read.

Other world leaders who condemned and condoled the incident are Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni and Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.

Chinese President Xi Jingping reportedly called Queen Victoria and offered his condolences.

A post on his official Facebook page read, "Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday sent a condolence message to British Queen Elizabeth II regarding the explosion in the British city of Manchester.

In the message, Xi expressed deep sorrow to the innocent victims and sincere condolences to the injured and the families of the killed in the incident."

In his post, Narendra Modi said, "Pained by the attack in Manchester. We strongly condemn it. Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased & prayers with the injured."

French President Macron's tweet in French read, "I address my thoughts to the British people, the victims and their loved ones. We are leading the fight against terrorism together."

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy's tweet in Spanish read, "A minute of silence in La Moncloa on the occasion of the attack in Manchester. Solidarity and all our support for the British people."

Paolo Gentiloni, the Italian Prime Minister tweeted, "Italy joins the British people and Government. Our thoughts goes out to the victims of the #Manchester attack and their families."
