Frozen eyelashes, thermometer burst as temperature touches record low at coldest inhabited place on Earth
Oymyakon, Jan 17 (IBNS): A tiny Siberian village is making headlines for recording lowest temperature which has even left people's eyelashes frozen, media reports said.
Oymyakon in Siberia is considered as one of the permanently inhabited places in this planet.
According to reports, temperature reached such record low in the area in recent times that even a new electronic thermometer broke as it was too cold.
"In recent days the temperature almost as low as it gets in Siberia, with Oymyakon - the coldest village in the world - recording an official low of -59C," The Siberian Times reported.
"A new electronic thermometer in the village - in Yakutia region, also known as Sasha Republic - showed it to be colder, at -62C," it said.
Meanwhile, image and video of a woman has gone viral on social media where she could be seen sporting her frozen eyelashes.
The woman has been identified as Anastasia Gruzdeva.
