Moscow, Mar 19 (IBNS): Vladimir Putin is all set to rule Russia as its President for another six years after he registered a landslide victory in the Presidential polls on Sunday.

With almost all the ballots counted, it is now clear that Putin will be back as the President of the nation for another term.

In the Mar 18 voting, Russian President Vladimir Putin garnered 76.65% of the vote.

Russia’s incumbent head of state Vladimir Putin has garnered 76.65% of the vote in the March 18 election with 99% of the ballots counted, the Central Election Commission was quoted as saying by TASS.

Putin was voted by 55.4 million people in the nation.

In the polls,  Director of the Lenin State Farm Pavel Grudinin, nominated by the Communist Party of Russia, stood in the second position with 11.82% of the vote.

He was followed by Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky with 5.68%.

The race also included Ksenia Sobchak, a former reality TV host, and veteran nationalist Vladimir Zhirinovsky - they got less than 2% and about 6% respectively, reported BBC.

Meanwhile, Putin has thanked his supporters following the victory.

"Thank you very much for your support," Putin was quoted as saying by TASS.

"I see in this at least recognition of what has been done in the recent years in very difficult conditions - trust and hope of our people that we will work the same hard, the same responsible and more efficiently," he said.
