Seoul, Apr 18 (IBNS): Prosecutors in South Korea have asked a court to issue an arrest warrant against the captain of the ferry which sank earlier this week leaving above 20 people killed, media reports said on Friday.

Meanwhile, the vice principal of Danwon High School near Seoul, who was in charge of  students on a ferry trip, was found dead on the island of Jindo on Friday.

"The senior teacher from Danwon High School near Seoul, identified by his surname Kang, 52, was found hanging from a tree on a hill near an indoor gymnasium on the island of Jindo, where parents of the students missing from the sunken ferry are staying," Yonhap news agency said.

"Kang, who survived the disaster, left no suicide note, but he is believed to have killed himself apparently out of guilt that he has been rescued while hundreds of his students remain unaccounted for," it said.

Bad weather conditions have hampered the search for 268 people still missing after the mishap.
