After deal defeat, Theresa May faces no-confidence over Brexit

London, Jan 16 (IBNS): After getting her Brexit deal historically rejected a day ago, United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister Theresa May on Wednesday is facing a vote of no-confidence moved by Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, media reports said.

The Parliament on Tuesday rejected May's deal by 230 votes.

It is being considered as the greatest defeat by a sitting government in the history of the country.

Britain is scheduled to leave the European Union in the next 73 days.

"MPs voted by 432 votes to 202 to reject the deal, which sets out the terms of Britain's exit from the EU on 29 March," BBC reported.

If May loses the vote of no-confidence on Wednesday, the country would certainly move towards the elections.

May has been negotiating a deal with the EU over the issue for the past two years.

"The plan was aimed at bringing about an orderly departure from the EU on 29 March, and setting up a 21-month transition period to negotiate a free trade deal," BBC reported.
