Emiliano Sala: Plane wreckage found

Washington, Feb 4 (IBNS): Wreckage of a flight, which was carrying  Argentine football star Emiliano Sala and 3ent missing nearly two weeks ago, has been found, media reports said.

The plane had disappeared over the English Channel.

  A marine scientist leading a search team has claimed that the wreckage has been found.

Scientist David Mearns tweeted: " Wreckage of the plane carrying Emiliano Sala and piloted by David Ibbotson was located early this morning by the FPV MORVEN. As agreed with the AAIB they moved the GEO OCEAN III over the position we provided them to visually identify the plane by ROV. #EmilianoSala."

"The families of Emiliano Sala and David Ibbotson have been notified by Police. The AAIB will be making a statement tomorrow. Tonight our sole thoughts are with the families and friends of Emiliano and David. #EmilianoSalas #NoDejenDeBuscarAEmilianoSala," he said.

As per BBC report, the Piper Malibu N264DB was lost on 21 January on its way from Nantes, France to Cardiff, with the Argentine striker and pilot David Ibbotson on board.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch has reportedly reached the spot to recover the wreckage.

Recently, Sala had signed a deal with English Premier League club Cardiff City from French club Nantes.

An official search operation was called off on 24 January after Guernsey's harbour master said the chances of survival were "extremely remote", reported BBC.

However, as an online appeal raised a fund £324,000 for a private search into the incident, the process commenced on Sunday.
