Over 900 Syrian refugees return home from abroad over past 24 hours: Russian Military
Moscow, Mar 8 (Sputnik) More than 900 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from neighboring Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said on Friday.
"Over the past 24 hours, a total of 920 refugees returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 120 people (36 women and 61 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh checkpoints; 800 people (240 women and 408 children) returned from Jordan via the Nassib checkpoint," the center said in its daily bulletin.
According to the bulletin, 120 internally displaced persons have also returned home within past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the Syrian engineering units continue mine-clearance operations. Over the past 24 hours, they have found and destroyed 27 explosive devices.
Russia and Turkey, alongside Iran, are guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria. Moscow has also been assisting Damascus both through supporting the struggle against terrorist groups operating in the country and providing humanitarian aid to civilians.
