Moscow, Mar 10 (Sputnik/UNI): Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to his Ethiopian counterpart, Sahle-Work Zewde, and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali in connection with the Sunday crash of the Boeing 737 aircraft in the country.
"Dear Madam President, dear Mr Prime Minister, please accept my most sincere condolences over the death of passengers and crew members of the aircraft that crashed while departing from Addis Ababa airport. Please convey words of sympathy and support to the families and friends of the victims. Let the courage not leave them in this difficult time," the message, which was published on the Kremlin website, says.
The contact with the plane, which was heading to the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, was lost just six minutes after Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302 took off from Addis Ababa at 05:38 GMT.
The site of the crash is located near the town of Bishoftu, some 30 miles to the southeast of the Ethiopian capital. According to the carrier, no one is believed to have survived the crash.
