Victim of Utrecht tram shooting passes away, bringing total deaths to 4
The Hague, Mar 29 (Xinhua/UNI) One of the severely injured victims of the Utrecht tram shooting that took place on March 18 died in hospital on Thursday, the public prosecutor announced.
The victim was a 74-year-old man from De Meern in the Dutch city of Utrecht. He was sitting in a car waiting for the parking light when suspect Gokmen Tanis stepped out after shooting at people in a tram and started firing at cars.
The latest death has brought the total number of people died from the shooting incident to four.
The shooting already cost the lives of three people, a 19-year-old woman from Vianen, and two men, aged 28 and 49 respectively from Utrecht. One person who was severely injured is still in hospital, another was already sent home.
The 37-year-old Tanis is currently in custody. He is suspected of multiple murder or manslaughter with a terrorist intent, an attempt to do the foregoing and threat with a terrorist intent.
