Israel polls: Benjamin Netanyahu expected to return for record fifth term, Modi congratulates
Jerusalem, Apr 10 (IBNS): PM Benjamin Netanyahu is all set to return to power in Israel for a fifth straight term as the results of the country's general polls is expected to suggest a new right-wing coalition.
His Likud party is expected to finish with a similar number of seats as ex-military chief Benny Gantz's centrist Blue and White alliance, reported BBC.
But Likud and right-wing allies are set to be the largest bloc with 65 seats in the 120-seat Knesset, BBC reported quoting local media.
Netanyahu claimed victory in the polls on Tuesday night.
He tweeted: "The right bloc in the Likud led won a definite victory. I thank the citizens of Israel for the trust. I will start by assembling a right government with our natural partners tonight."

Interestingly, in Israel no party has clinched a majority in the 120-seat parliament.
The country has always witnessed coalition government running the administration over the years.
Indian PM Narendra Modi has congratulated Netanyahu over the victory.
My dear friend Bibi, Congratulations! You are a great friend of India, and I look forward to continuing to work with you to take our bilateral partnership to new heights. @netanyahu
