Suspicious items found in New Zealand's Christchurch, one arrested
Wellington, Apr 30 (Xinhua/UNI) New Zealand police located a package containing a suspected explosive device and ammunition at a vacant address on Newcastle Street in Christchurch, a police statement said on Tuesday.
A 33-year-old man was arrested and is currently speaking to the police regarding the incident.
Houses on Newcastle, Glasgow and Harrow streets were being evacuated as a precaution.
The New Zealand Defence Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, fire, emergency and ambulance services were also in place. A no-fly zone was in place over the area.
