Tunis, May 10 (UNI): At least 70 illegal migrants of sub-Saharan origin died on Friday after their boat got wrecked in international waters of the Mediterranean, around 40 miles off the coast of Tunisia's Sfax province.
Fishing boats rescued 16 migrants, Tunisian media reported.
It was one the deadliest shipwrecks involving migrants trying to reach Europe illegally this year.
The death toll could rise, since recovery of bodies is still in progress, the agency added.
