Beirut, Jun 4 (Sputnik/UNI) A group of terrorists has carried out three attacks on a military patrol and police officers in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli, killing one soldier and injuring several others, local media reported.

According to the LBCI broadcaster, the armed group opened fire at the patrol in the area of the Port of Tripoli.

The armed forces have not yet officially confirmed the death of its officer.

After the attacks, the military and police began chasing the attackers. A shootout ensued in the center of Tripoli.

The militants tried to hide in one of the buildings, which was swiftly encircled by the special forces, who started clearing it of the militants.
