Manila/Xinhua/UNI: Five people were killed and 33 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a transport van in Quezon province, south of Manila, on Saturday afternoon, police said.

Police said the collision occurred around 4:30 p.m. along a highway in Pagbilao town when a northbound bus and a southbound van collided.

The five reportedly died at the scene, police said, adding the injured were taken to a local hospital in the area.

The initial investigation showed that the van drifted into an oncoming lane on the highway, slamming into the bus.
