Nur-Sultan/UNI: A Bek Air plane crashed near Kazakhstan's biggest city Almaty shortly after taking off, killing at least 14 people, living 35 injured on Friday, the government said.

According to airport officials, the aircraft went down shortly after taking off at Almaty Airport on Friday morning.

The plane was en route from Almaty, Kazakhstan, to the country's capital of Nur-sultan.

At the time of incident, 95 passengers and five crew members were on board, the officials added.

According to Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development, the ill-fated plane lost altitude after the take-off, broke a concrete guardrail and crashed into a two-story building at 7:22 hrs local time (01:22 GMT). The plane torn into two pieces.

The rescue operation was underway, no fire was reported after the crash. Passengers and crew members were being evacuated, the ministry said.

The Kazakh government has formed a special commission to probe the accident.

"The commission is heading for the crash site. All the details and causes [of the crash] will be found. Until the circumstances of the incident are clarified, all flights of planes of this type will be suspended,” Sputnik quoted the ministry as saying.

The government has also suspended flights of Fokker 100 planes, similar to the jet involved in the accident.

Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed deep condolences to the victims' relatives.

"I express deep condolences to families and friends of victims of the plane crash, which took place today, December 27, in the morning near Almaty. The injured people will be provided with medical assistance. A special governmental commission, headed by [Prime Minister] Askar Mamin, has been created. All guilty persons will be strictly punished in line with the legislation," he tweeted.
