Kyrgyzstan reports 506 new COVID-19 cases

Bishkek/Xinhua: Kyrgyzstan reported 506 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, taking the total number to 6,767.

Ainura Akmatova, head of the health ministry's public health department, said at a news briefing that all the new cases are contacts of confirmed patients, except from a single imported case.

Among the new cases, 73 are medical workers, taking the total number of infected medical workers to 994, including 484 recoveries, she added.

Akmatova said that 125 more patients have made a full recovery from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,655.

She also confirmed 10 more deaths, pushing the country's death toll to 76.

Currently, 638 people remain hospitalized, 19 patients are in intensive care and another 3,398 asymptomatic patients are under home quarantine.

In total, 23,019 people have had contact with infected patients.
