Britain's Queen Elizabeth, husband Prince Philip get Coronavirus vaccine

London/IBNS: Queen Elizabeth II, the current monarch of Britain, and her husband Prince Philip took the Covid-19 vaccine shot on Saturday, Buckingham Palace said, reported the media.

The 94-year-old queen and her 99-year-old husband were injected with the vaccine by a royal household physician at Windsor Castle, said media reports.

According to a BBC report, the Queen decided to inform the people that she has taken the vaccination to put to rest the speculations.

So far 1.5 million people in the UK have taken the vaccination, including the queen and her husband, said reports.

The royal couple have been living in their Windsor Castle home in the midst of Covid-19 induced restrictions and spent a quiet Christmas at their Berkshire residence instead of Sandringham, their traditional address for Christmas.

The Queen did not step out of a royal residence and avoided all public appearances from March to October last year.

She was seen last month along with other senior members of the royal family for the first time since the outbreak of the infectious disease.

Her eldest son Prince Charles, 72, had contracted the infection and also showed mild symptoms while her grandson, according to a BBC report, had also tested positive for Coronavirus in April last year but Kensington Palace refused to comment.
