Afghanistan: US,UK govts ask citizens to stay away from Serena hotel in Kabul
London/Washington: The US and UK governments have issued advisories to its citizens where they have asked them to stay away from the Serena hotel in Kabul amid security threats.
U.S. Dept of State Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA) tweeted: "Afghanistan: Avoid traveling to the Serena Hotel and the surrounding area because of security threats. U.S. citizens who are at or near the hotel should leave immediately. Be aware of your surroundings; follow local authorities' instructions; have a plan; monitor local media."

The UK also issued a similar advisory to citizens.
“In light of the increased risks you are advised not to stay in hotels, particularly in Kabul (such as the Serena Hotel),” Britain's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said as quoted by UNI.
The Department of State and British Foreign Ministry said that there are threats of attacks from the Islamic State-Khorasan.
Serena hotel situated in downtown Kabul city is the biggest residence for foreign citizens and is well-known for its security and services.
It has twice been the target of attacks by the Taliban, in 2014 and 2008.
