Houthi missile attack leaves 29 dead, injured: Yemeni Information Minister
Sanaa/UNI/Sputnik/IBNS: In total, 29 civilians were killed and injured in an airstrike carried out by the Houthi rebels in the Yemeni province of Marib, said Yemen's Information Minister Moammar Al-Eryani Monday.
"Twenty-nine civilians died and were injured, including women and children," he tweeted.
The rebels fired two ballistic missiles on residential quarters in the southern Juba district, hitting a mosque and a religious centre too, the Minister from the official Saudi-backed government said.
Yemen has been gripped by the conflict between the government forces and the Houthi Ansar Allah movement for nearly seven years.
Since February 2020, Houthis have been carrying out a large-scale operation against the Yemeni army in Marib to gain control over the province, which is also a political, military, and economic centre.
The war between the government forces and the Houthis has escalated in the past few months and led to a ban on importing to Houthi-led regions.
The ban has created a situation that has been deemed the 'biggest humanitarian crisis' by the UN, as 16 million people endure starvation.
