Baghdad, June 29 (IBNS): The crisis in Iraq continued as the country's government forces continued the offensive to retake the Tikrit city from Sunni rebels, media reports said.

"Aircraft have struck at rebel positions and clashes have broken out in various parts of the city," BBC reported quoting witnesses and officials.

The rebels had captured Tikrit city earlier this month.

"The security forces are advancing from different areas," Lt-Gen Qassem Atta told BBC.
